Heading to San Francisco | San Francisco Wedding Photographer

By the time you read this blog post, Darren and I will be in San Francisco already. We are here to shoot Gretchen and Ben’s wedding at the Westin St. Francis. They got married on Mau`i on September 1st, and are now having a reception at home with all of their family and friends over the Labor Day weekend. We took photos of their Mau`i nuptials and now we cannot wait to shoot the second part of their celebration in our home town.

Here is a picture of the lovely couple that we took during our last visit in June. We met with them during game day, as you can see from their SF Giants baseball hats and T-shirts!

And here are two teasers from their wedding in Kapalua just 2 days ago:

This was their red LOVE Bug. How cute was that?

Dinner with the Kubota’s | Hawaii Wedding Photographer

Darren and I were thrilled to be able to catch up with our “Action Hero” Kevin Kubota and his family during their recent visit to Mau`i. They graciously invited us to join them for dinner at the Lahaina Grill last Friday evening, and we had a great time chatting about wedding photography, underwater photography, life in Bend, Oregon and anything in between!

Since we started our photography business, we have been using Kevin’s amazing Kubota Image Tools for Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. We absolutely love them and can’t imagine doing our post production without them. They save so much time, which allows Darren and I to spend more time out there shooting instead of sitting behind the computer.

I attended Kevin’s class at WPPI this past March, and we can’t wait to see him and his wife Clare at next year’s in February. Here are some photos of our dinner from our point-and-shoot:

Midori & Kenny’s Wedding Part One | Hawaii Wedding Photographer

Back in May, my good friends from Southern California – Alice of Alice Hu Photography and Serena of Serena Grace Photography were here on Mau`i to shoot a destination wedding. They graciously invited me to join them and we had so much fun documenting Midori and Kenny’s wedding at the beautiful Haiku Mill. Thanks so much for having me. You gals are awesome!

I am no stranger to the Haiku Mill. Since 2007, I have planned and shot a lot of weddings/events there, and Sylvia (the owner) and Allie (their coordinator) are always such a joy to work with. Caroline & John’s Maternity Shoot | San Francisco Lifestyle Photographer

Caroline and I were in the same class in business school. We even did the 2-week Shanghai/Seoul study tour together back in January 2003! That was a lot of fun! After graduation in 2004, we continue to keep in touch. She got married a few years ago and now she and John are expecting their first child together. So when we were in San Francisco last month, we took the opportunity to do a maternity shoot for them.

We met up at the Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden in Palo Alto Friday evening after work. Unlike in Hawaii where we don’t observe Daylight Saving Time, the sun doesn’t set till 8:30 pm in Northern California during the summer, so we had plenty of time to work with. We had a lot of fun doing the shoot and here are some of our favorite ones.

Congrats, Caroline and John! We can’t wait to see your baby when we head back to San Francisco the first 2 weeks in September!

Dinner with SF Wedding Professionals | San Francisco Wedding Photographer

Whenever Darren and I head home to visit or to work, we always find time to get together with our wedding industry friends there. Not only are they all talented in their trade, they are also a very fun bunch to hang out with. Throughout the years, we all have become very good friends and we can’t wait to move back to San Francisco in a few years to collaborate with all of them.

During our trip back in June, we had a really nice dinner with everyone. Here are some of the photos taken with our point-and-shoot camera…

A very special thank-you to the wonderful Bev Yip of Especially Yours Chairs Covers & Linens for organizing such an amazing private dinner for us at her friend Vana’s restaurant – Xinh Bistro & Lounge. The food was soooo yummy, and the decor was just unbelievable!
